Botox is a non surgical treatment for wrinkles. It has been used for over 15 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. In 2002 Botox Cosmetic was approved by the FDA to improve the appearance of frown lines. Botox blocks the nerve impulses of muscles that causes wrinkles thereby giving the skin a smoother appearance. It can be used to treat wrinkles and creases of the forehead, crows feet and frown lines. Botox can also be used to elevate the brow and induce a lip curl to further enhance your appearance.

Dermal fillers are another form of non surgical treatment for wrinkles.
They are injections that fill out wrinkled or uneven facial areas, gently smoothing wrinkles and restoring bulk to the curves of the face. Restylane and Juvederm are the two most common dermal fillers and have been used safely on thousands of patients. These products can also be used for lip augmentation or to improve the appearance of recessed scars.

F.A.Q.

1] Do Botox injections hurt?
The area to be injected is usually prepped with ice. Most people experience no pain at all, though some have mild discomfort. Following the injection, you can return immediately to work.
2] How long does Botox last?
The results usually last from 3 to 4 months with the results first noted within 5 days of the injection.
3] Is Botox safe?
Botox has been safely used for over 20 years.

At Acadia Womens’ Health we charge per unit injected. Total costs will depend on how much Botox is needed and the areas injected. There is never an added injection fee.

7] What areas can be treated with dermal fillers?
The most common areas are the nasolabial folds, the area from your nose to the corners of your mouth. However, fillers can also be used on most face wrinkles.
8] What is lip augmentation?
Lip augmentation gives you fuller lips. As time passes, your lips sag and lose their substance. By enhancing the lips with Restylane or Juvederm you can have a more youthful appearance almost instantly. It can be performed in a very short amount of time using topical anesthetic cream, local anesthesia or a nerve block.
